Feed science and technology raise productivity and sustainability in aquaculture

Advances in feed formulations and production technology contribute significantly to progress in aquaculture. For example, at one time 3 kg of feed was needed to grow 1 kg of salmon. Today the ratio is around 1:1 and that kilo of feed need contain only 150 g of fishmeal, enabling salmon and trout farmers to produce more fish protein than they use in the feed.

Skretting hands and money build emergency houses in Chile

At the end of May Skretting Chile employees completed the construction of 30 basic houses in Arauco, 600 km north of Puerto Montt. Funds came from the US$ 75,000 donated by Skretting employees and Skretting Group Management in March to help earthquake victims.

Unusual species feature on Skretting feeds list

Claiming to feed over 50 species of aquaculture fish means Skretting has some less usual species on its list. Among the more interesting are wrasse and besugo or blackspot sea bream, both benefiting from European funding, and amberjack, which could become a major aquaculture species in the Mediterranean.

Protec diet reduces PD mortality by 70 percent
